In 2023, Nasstar partnered with Treeapp, a global tree-planting organisation to reforest and rewild previously degraded areas throughout the world.
This partnership has been renewed in 2024 as we continue building and developing our sustainability goals and initiatives. This year, we pledge to plant 2,024 trees at a selected site in Dorset.
ABOUT TREEAPP
Treeapp operates sites in 13 countries, both in the UK and further afield in places such as Madagascar, Kenya and Haiti. It works with brands to integrate tree planting into their business, helping to offset their carbon footprint through carbon credits.
With growing research around the irreversible effects of carbon emissions, companies can no longer turn a blind eye. At Nasstar, we’re taking strides to make our everyday greener.
Our partnership with Treeapp builds on our existing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme which has seen the removal of data centres in favour of public cloud alternatives, using energy-efficient infrastructure and a goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 32% by 2025.
SUSTAINABILITY THROUGH REFORESTATION
Sustainability and corporate responsibility have become vital considerations for businesses aiming for long-term success. Integrating sustainability and responsibility with digital transformation enables businesses to operate responsibly, optimize processes, enhance customer experiences, and build resilient organisations that thrive in an environmentally and socially conscious future.
The planting site for this year is located in Dorset, near the town of Shaftesbury. The site is situated on open grazing land surrounded by thin margin of broadleaf woodland.
Characterised as improved grassland, the site features freely draining slightly acid loamy soils, impeded drainage and moderate fertility. An area to the south of the site is designated as a UK Priority Habitat (Traditional Orchard).
We aim to reforest the site to attract wildlife, especially bird species such as Lapwing, Grey Partridge and Yellowhammer. The woodland bird index is a crucial indicator of biodiversity in the area, so we are keen on increasing it.
Our contribution will have a significant impact here. By planting 2,024 trees, we will:
Absorb 202.60 tonnes of Co2
Reforest 3,238.40M2
Provide habitats for a diverse range of species
Offer opportunities for outdoor recreation and education
Help to regulate the climate by planting woodland that purifies the air and water
