Make a Real Difference
Embracing remote work by using Microsoft’s advanced collaboration technologies allows Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) to do more good in the world. Whether it’s improving day-to-day operations, planning advocacy campaigns, or strategizing about how to make a real difference in the world, Microsoft Lync is now at the heart of VSO’s communications.
VSO is the world’s leading independent international development organization that works through volunteers to fight poverty in developing countries. VSO approached Modality Systems with a request to improve the organization’s ability to work & collaborate remotely, as well as ensuring full integration with their legacy communications infrastructure.
“Modality provided a fast and efficient service at a critical point in our UC deployment, and timed to match installation of our Mitel 3300 IP phone system. Their technical team were true experts with Microsoft UC, worked together with our phone system supplier to ensure connectivity, and were flexible to our needs when it came to fitting in with the availability of our own IT team.”

Summary of Services
Working in conjunction with VSO, Modality Systems deployed an advanced collaboration solution providing IM & Presence to users, remote access and federation to partner agencies. Enterprise Voice was also deployed in a controlled environment, highlighting the full capabilities of the Microsoft product, and providing VSO with a roadmap to a pure collaborative environment.
The successful deployment of the solution has allowed VSO to test the range of functionality, to a point where we are confident that its strategically planned move to Office 365 and upgrade to the latest version of Lync will be the most time efficient, user friendly, easy to maintain and value for money UC solution that fits the business needs of its users.
